The immediate moment of exposure to the lack of oxygen brought torrid morsels of Earth traveling in a ruinous wave and colliding with the moon, spiraling it into space. The moon’s surface observatory, docking bay, and Bacen’s restaurant pulverized beyond recognition. In that last instant, Uma thought of her unborn children and the missing desire to embrace them and teach them to remember her. Remember the mother that gave her dying thought to them. Who loved them before they were known by name… before they understood the meaning why she left them. In her hard space breathe, she lost consciousness but not without closing her eyes, squeezing her final tear out between her eyelids. It disappeared in the moon‘s new comet trail with the hundreds of lives petrified over the surface. Would they ever know her? Would she ever be known? The moon, in its new comet torched trail, turned the last remnants of human civilization to ash. ____
Thirty-five years later a boy’s voice echoed beyond the ashes, “Humanity without Earth is a man without soul.” He closed his history book and pondered the events leading to the reason of his birth deep inside the new comet‘s belly.
